From finding alternative uses for a single product to employing quick tricks for speedy makeup application, makeup enthusiasts enjoy exploring various techniques. However, is it always beneficial? Not necessarily. While certain makeup hacks may simplify the process, some could potentially harm your skin and eyes in the long term.
Dermatologist Dr. Aanchal Panth recently shared a few such hacks on Instagram that she strongly advises against. Here’s a glimpse:
1. **Using lip liners on the eye waterline:**
Many women opt for using lip liners as colorful eyeliners to achieve a vibrant and playful look. However, Dr. Panth warns against this practice, noting that lip liners often contain longer-lasting pigments that may cause irritation to the eyes. She advises limiting the use of kajal, especially if you have dark circles where the skin is hyper-pigmented.
2. **Using lipstick as a blush:**
While using lipstick as blush is a common makeup hack, Dr. Panth cautions against using dark-colored or liquid matte lipsticks for this purpose. Such lipsticks contain darker pigments intended for lips, which may darken existing spots on the cheeks. Instead, she suggests opting for a powder blush or a light-colored cream blush that is easy to blend. Light-colored cheek tint is considered a safer alternative.
3. **Using soap on brows:**
The trend of using soap to create prominent hair strokes and set brows in place has gained popularity. However, Dr. Panth advises against this hack, stating that it may lead to the temporary fall of brows. She recommends avoiding this practice for the well-being of your eyebrows.
